Echterlings, 1950s Left to right, youngest to oldest in the black and white picture: Eugene, Barbara, Margaret, Mary (Maryanne), Helen. They are children of Pearl Sturm Echterling and Eugene "Gene" Echterling. Gene was the Postmaster in Parnell, MO.

The shadow is probably Bessie Sturm Ernst (their aunt.)

Echterlings

In the color picture: Mary Echterling Rohde, Helen Echterling Smick, Eugene Echterling, Margaret Echterling Hawley, Barbara Echterling Goine.

Margaret (and Lucille) took care of Aunt Ruby when she got older. Mary is the one who was on "Queen for a Day", a radio precursor to reality shows. She had red hair and a redhead temperament. Eugene was a National Merit Scholar and went to Stanford. He designed electonic toys including "Speak and Spell" and "Larry the Lion". Mom says that Helen was the beauty.
